# How To Avoid Small Business Burnout

**You’re Hustling. You’re Doing About 10 People’s Jobs In One Daily, As You Work To Grow And Scale Your Business. When You’re Not Working, You’re Working.**

**That All Comes With The Territory Of Owning A Small Business, Right?**

_Yes_, but hear us out here: small business owners have incredible drive, but they are also notoriously vulnerable to burnout. Forgetfulness, chronic fatigue, stalled projects, and irritability can all be signs that you are experiencing burnout as you run your small business.

Small business burnout isn’t that different from general burnout in business, but its effects can hurt small business owners more deeply. Here are a few tips on avoiding business owner burnout:

1. **Remember to put your health first.** Take little steps to take care of yourself. Take walks as a break from work every hour. Prioritize getting a full night’s sleep. Eat food that will energize and nourish you. Listen to your body when it’s trying to tell you something. Stress can lead to some pretty surprising symptoms. Consult with your doctor over any concerns or changes your body may have gone through due to stress or burnout.
2. **Try to streamline your processes**. Make your workflow more efficient and effective by streamlining your processes. Note how much time you dedicate daily to certain tasks. Catalog every task you do for your business in a document and examine your processes to decide what truly needs to be done by you, and what you might want to consider taking off your plate and delegating (more on that later!)
3. **Learn to say “no.”** This is a tough one. As a small business owner, you know that every opportunity is valuable. You can’t realistically take every opportunity - not without burning yourself out. Saying “no” can be hard but remember that you have human limits. You can’t be everywhere at once and do everything at once. And that’s okay!
4. **Delegate tasks where you can. It might be time for a virtual assistant!** Trying to do everything by yourself may not only hurt you, but it could also hurt your business through lower quality work overall. Getting help does not need to be a costly hassle for you - especially if you’re considering a virtual assistant.

Virtual assistants are proven to help business owners become up to 13% more effective, and companies can save up to 78% of costs by hiring virtual assistants - especially if they have the background, skillset, and capacity to fulfill any and all administrative needs, like the carefully vetted VAs at Peachtree.
