An AI agent is software that uses artificial intelligence to complete multi-step tasks with limited human input, such as booking, searching or sending messages.

An AI agent takes a goal and works through the steps to reach it. It may search the web, read files, fill forms or send messages through connected tools. It differs from a simple chatbot because it can act, not only answer.

Agents can save time on repeatable work, but they can also make mistakes at speed. Owners should limit what an agent can access, review its work and keep a person responsible for the outcome. Judgment, tone and trust are still human strengths.
